Joyce Ryan
Joyce has served in Fairlop Ward as a councillor for many years; she lives in the ward and knows the area well. Joyce always acts on behalf of residents, irrespective of political preferences; and is determined to secure positive results.
Joyce was proud to serve as Mayor of Redbridge [2007/8]; has been Deputy Mayor on several occasions; and has served on, or chaired, numerous committees while a councillor. Joyce knows the importance of local green spaces, for mental and physical well-being; has always fought to protect them and prevent overdevelopment. She is on the Board of London Youth Games, Trustee of London Sport and Redbridge Sport & Leisure and a governor on the Redbridge Institute.
A former primary teacher, she is a governor at a school for young people with special educational needs. If re-elected Joyce pledges to continue serving the local community and putting residents first.
Howard Berlin
Howard was elected as a Fairlop Ward Councillor in May 2018 and it has been an honour and privilege to serve the Fairlop community since then. Howard prides himself on responding to residents’ complaints and issues very promptly.
To Howard, being a Councillor is not being political but it is about trying to help the local community and trying to keep Fairlop a great place to live. Many of you will know him as the “Redbridge Green Belt Champion” as well as writing his Green Belt review that helped save Oakfield Playing Fields from Redbridge Labour plans to develop the site into a massive housing estate.
Protecting our Redbridge Green Belt was the main reason for Howard wanting to become a Redbridge Councillor. He will continue to campaign along with Joyce and Ruth on this very important local issue.
Ruth Clark
Ruth has lived in Redbridge for 57 years and has been a Councillor for many years. Ruth also works locally in the Legal Justice System her passions are protecting Green Space, Community Safety and Regeneration. Within the Council, over the years, she has been Cabinet Member for Planning and spokesperson for Community Safety and Licensing. Ruth is a Patron of The Dream Factory, which is a local charity based in Hainault that grants dreams to children and young adults with life threatening illnesses. Ruth’s ambition is to see a ‘Sporting Zone’ in Fairlop Ward stretching from Barkingside Swimming Pool to Hainault Country Park incorporating many new sporting and leisure facilities. This would certainly protect the area from any future residential developments going forward. Ruth says “The most important thing to me is working for my Community”
